There are two main roles for journal members: editors and writers. Both opportunities are open to undergraduates from any NYU school/program.
Student editors review articles upon initial receipt, suggest revisions to authors, recommend strong articles for review, and manage the publication of each journal issue. Though most of our editors study politics or public policy, majoring in one of these fields is not a requirement to join the journal staff. Because we publish articles on a wide range of topics related to policy, we value a team with diverse backgrounds, interests, and areas of expertise.
Student writers produce op-ed-style articles throughout the semester on policy topics of their choice. Similar to being an editor, studying or majoring in public policy, politics, or any policy-related field is not a requirement to join the journal staff. We simply seek writers who are interested in furthering policy discussions and are strong writers.
We seek to amplify the brightest public policy proposals through rigorous intellectual review. The most successful journal members will be curious, skeptical, and possess strong writing skills. A background in research, while not necessary to apply, will be helpful.
If you’re a policy wonk — whatever that means to you — we want you to join our team.
We will be accepting applications until February 9th. Please direct any questions to our staff via email.
